Kill Devil Hill has hit on a hot-button topic with their new single “Pharmaceutical Sunshine”. The song addresses the ongoing national opioid epidemic that is raging in the US, and the devastating effects it is having on those involved. Opioids and synthetic opioids like Fentanyl cause over 80% of drug overdose deaths in the US, and these drugs have become more and more readily available in recent years. The song shines a light on a problem that is too often ignored by the media, who are often bankrolled by the very companies profiting from this tragedy. The song’s lyrics come from the heart, as members of the band have had personal experience with the crushing reality of addiction, and hope to raise awareness with its release.

“This song is a heartfelt reflection on the far-reaching impact of the opioid epidemic, not only on my own family but on countless families across America. Several band members have felt the effects of this in their own families, triggering a heart-felt inspiration to use music as a tool to speak to the masses about this ongoing crisis in our country – and hopefully provide a beacon of hope for those in need of a helping hand, and a voice of understanding.” -Dewey Bragg (Vocalist – Kill Devil Hill)

“I’ve seen close friends and even a family member struggle with these issues, and it is truly heartbreaking to watch. It’s perfectly natural for someone who is constantly living under a cloud of depression and addiction to reach for a little “Pharmaceutical Sunshine” to lift them out of that dark place, but unfortunately, it only tightens the downward spiral. This song was written to shine a light on this massive issue, and hopefully, through raising awareness, can help some to avoid the terrible pitfalls of opioid addiction.” -Mark Zavon (Guitarist – Kill Devil Hill)

“Pharmaceutical Sunshine is the fifth single released this year by Kill Devil Hill, and is part of their forthcoming full-length release “Seas Of Oblivion” due on September 20th. The video for the song, which can be viewed below, was filmed at El Mirage dry lake bed in California, which was a perfect metaphor for the barren reality of addiction.

Three live performances have been scheduled to celebrate the release of “Seas Of Oblivion”.

September 21st @ The Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, CA

September 22nd @ Vamp’d in Las Vegas, NV

September 23rd @ Stages in Santa Ana, CA
